Scholars, practitioners, policymakers, funders, students, and interested citizens from around the world will come together for the International Colloquium on Black Men in Education in October 2024.
This annual conference will serve as a forum for the exchange of ideas and perspectives on global trends of Black males in the education pipeline. The conference will be held October 23-25 at the Drury Plaza Hotel in Downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Featured speakers include:
Dr. Fred A. Bonner II, He is the founding executive director of the Center for Minority Achievement, Creativity, and High Ability (MACH-III) and Professor and Endowed Chair of Educational Leadership in the Whitlow R. Green College of Education at Prairie View A&M University.
· Dr. Eboni M. Zamani GallaherRenée Goldman and Richard Goldman, dean and professor of educational foundations, organizations, and policy in the School of Education at the University of Pittsburgh;
· Curtis Valentinefounder of Real Men Teach, co-director of the Progressive Policy Institute's Reinventing America's Schools project, and adjunct professor at the University of Maryland, College Park.
· Derrick R. Blooms, Ph.D.founding executive director of the Institute for Black Men's Studies and professor of African American studies at Morehouse College
· Dr. Eric M. HinesProfessor of Counseling in the Department of Child, Family and Community Engagement at George Mason University.
· Dr. Claude HuttHe is an associate professor at Morehouse College and the founding dean of the College of Professional and Continuing Education.
· Donna Y. Ford, Ph.D.He is Distinguished Professor of Education and Human Ecology in the College of Education and Human Ecology at The Ohio State University.
· Dr. Kinis K. GoshaHe is the Hortinius I. Chenault Endowed Professor of Computer Science at Morehouse College and executive director of the Morehouse Center for Expanding Participation in Computing.
Participants will discuss issues that arise from kindergarten through graduate school, develop strategies, and share ideas and practices across disciplines that consider how forces such as globalization and the internationalization of education impact Black males’ educational trajectories.
