On Monday, September 2, RED ā A Taylor Swift Tribute presented by American Bank & Trust will be a jaw-dropping show that faithfully recreates a Taylor Swift live concert. The RED show is a faithful recreation of a Taylor Swift live show. Lauren Corzineās stage appearance and show will make āSwiftiesā feel like theyāre watching Taylor Swift in concert herself. In fact, the LA Times recently noted Laurenās striking resemblance to Taylor Swift. At the RED show, fans will enjoy an epic journey through Taylor Swiftās entire discography. The crowd will sing along as RED plays a wide range of songs from Taylorās self-titled debut album to her latest releases. The first 500 people through the gates will receive a limited edition SD State Fair friendship bracelet.
The American Revolutionary War Experience at Younger Hall will feature innovative pop-up exhibits showcasing the lives of ordinary people affected by the events of the American Revolutionary War. The event aims to connect modern audiences with the fascinating story of our nation's origins, introducing visitors to real people who made their mark on history and the places where they lived, worked and fought for their freedom. The event will run from Wednesday, August 28 through Monday, September 2.
Six stages will provide new free entertainment each day. This year's shows include “Funk-Uh-Fried,” a show for the whole family that blends old-school funk with a modern soul flair; “Poppa Norton Bear,” a show that mixes country music from Buck Owens, Johnny Cash and Waylon, Willie and Haggard with country humor and Midwestern charm; chainsaw juggler Mad Chad's family-friendly show that's sure to get your adrenaline pumping; “Robot Rangers” and the Wildlife Adventure Center's reptile and animal shows.
Also new this year, DAV Bingo will be held at the Veterans Building from noon to 7pm every day except Thursday, August 29. All proceeds and donations will go towards supporting Veterans' Local Transportation Programs.
The “Seeing Double” look-alike contest will be held Monday, Sept. 2, at the Farm Bureau Dakotaland Stage and will feature mother-daughter and father-son divisions.
The “Family Voice Battle” will showcase singing talent and family spirit in an exciting competition to see who can call each other the loudest and most creatively on Monday, Sept. 2, at the Farm Bureau Dakotaland Stage.
The Legoland contest will be held on Wednesday, August 28th in the Arts/Education Building. Each participant will have free time to create a design of their choice with no time limit. All creations will be on display during the State Fair, with judging taking place on Monday, September 2nd.
By popular demand, ARCY, sponsored by Dakotaland Federal Credit Union, will paint a different mural on an 8-foot by 12-foot wall each day during the fair. ARCY is known for their large-scale, paint-splattered street art, and these paintings will be displayed throughout the fairgrounds at next year's State Fair.
