It's been a busy year for Apple, with the company making headlines multiple times this year. On September 9th, many releases are expected from the Cupertino giant, from the iPhone 16 and Apple Watch series lineups to several software upgrades for its devices, including the iPad. However, just before the launch event, Snapchat quietly released something for iPad users.
Even though the iPad has been around longer than the app, the app never had a native iPad version, and while you could run the iPhone app on an iPad, it wasn't a particularly great experience because the app wasn't properly optimized.
This meant unnecessarily large amounts of black space on either side and awkward spacing between icons and images. With native apps, all of this has been eliminated, allowing you to experience the app in all its glory on a much larger screen.
However, be aware that the app doesn't seem to support landscape orientation, forcing you to use it in portrait mode – hopefully this will be fixed in an update at some point, but that aside, you can enjoy the 9th most popular social media platform. StatistaIt fits well on larger screens.
This gives it a bit of an advantage over other social media platforms such as Instagram, which has yet to create a native version for the iPad for reasons that are largely unknown. Apple InsiderThe reason Instagram developers haven't developed a native iPad app is because they believe the market isn't big enough yet.
With the number of native iPad apps on the rise and Snapchat following suit, it's no surprise that the iPad market is slowly growing. With a lot of changes coming to iPadOS 18, we can expect to see even more apps available for iPad users over time.
