American multinational retailer Walmart has announced a series of new initiatives aimed at accelerating the growth of Walmart Marketplace.
These initiatives were announced at the Let's Grow! 2024 Walmart Marketplace Seller Summit and include category expansion, multi-channel fulfillment and features to simplify cross-market selling.
Walmart Fulfilment Services (WFS) is introducing new ways for merchants to move goods faster between marketplaces and leverage Walmart capabilities to fulfill any e-commerce retail order.
The company also plans to launch its Multi-Channel Solutions program on September 10, 2024.
The program allows merchants to leverage Walmart's supply chain and use WFS to fulfill orders from any e-commerce site.
The company is also introducing Walmart Cross Border, a new import service for fully-containerized shipments that will facilitate the shipping of imported goods directly from Asian ports to WFS facilities in the United States.

Additionally, the retailer offers its carrier network to sellers for truckload shipments and offers special rates through its Walmart Preferred Carrier Program.
The revamped Global Seller Center and new app will enable qualified sellers to sell in multiple markets, including the United States, Mexico, Chile and Canada.

To further support third-party sellers, Walmart will offer cash advances to qualified sellers and waive peak season storage fees for inventory sent to Walmart fulfillment centers through Sept. 30, 2024.
The new deals dashboard allows merchants to participate in Walmart deal events and gain insights to improve the quality of their offers.
Walmart is expanding its Marketplace selection by adding premium beauty and expanding its selection of collectibles and used goods, part of a strategy to offer more choices for customers and more opportunities for sellers.

The announcement of these initiatives comes following Walmart's recent divestiture of Chinese e-commerce retailer JD.com.
