The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra, in partnership with the American Music Project, will open its 47th season with “Three Great American Symphonies” on Saturday, September 21st at 5:30 pm at Trinity Christian College Ozinga Chapel, 6601 W. College Drive, Palos Heights.
Symphonies to be performed under the direction of the Styrian Kirov Orchestra include Vincent's Symphony in D Major, Still's Symphony No. 3, and Diamond's Symphony No. 2.

The Oak Lawn Park Neighborhood will host a Conservation Jamboree featuring the Monarch Festival on Saturday, September 21st from 11am to 2pm at the Oak Lawn Park Neighborhood Prairie, 105th Street and Menard Avenue.
Learn all about the District's efforts to protect natural areas and natural resources, including monarch butterfly migration, protecting native plants to increase pollination, and overall recycling efforts.
This free event will feature an educational walk through the prairie for adults and families, fun games, crafts, vendors, music, giveaways and a photo opportunity with mascot Duke Mallard.

Soundgrowler Brewing, located at 8201 183rd St. in Tinley Park, will host its 3rd Annual Comic & Cosplay Market on Saturday, August 31st from 12pm to 5pm.
The event will feature local artists, cartoonists, vendors, cosplayers, cosplay contests and more.
The event, hosted by Streetz Artz Alliance, will feature elements quintessential to pop culture and comic conventions, including Perler art, cosplay accessories, original comic artists, comics, toy resellers, POP figurines and more.
Ten Cups Tarot also offers tarot readings for individuals, couples, and even pets upon request.
The cosplay contest will begin at 4pm and participants can register at the event. Participants will be asked to enter their name/handle, character/cosplay, and any information they would like to share with the judges. Prizes will be awarded to the top three participants.
This event is free to attend and open to all ages.
St. John Fisher Church and School will host its October Festival on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 5 to 11 p.m., in the parking lot at 10235 S. Fairfield Ave.
The festival features live music, food and beer, with food and drink tickets purchased separately.

Governors State University Performing Arts Center (1 University Parkway in University Park) will kick off its 29th season with the U.S. premiere of “Boom X” on Friday, Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m.
Created and performed by Rick Miller, this high-energy one-man show takes audiences on a journey through iconic events, pop culture and music from the 1970s-90s, paying tribute to over 50 musicians and bands that defined Generation X.
