(Alexandria, MN) – The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), a professional association of more than 35,000 general dentists committed to professional excellence through the pursuit of continuing education, is pleased to announce that Dentist Timothy Gehring of Alexandria, Minnesota, has received the 2024 Lifelong Learning and Service Award for his commitment to lifelong learning, volunteering in communities in need, mentoring colleagues and new dentists, and participating in organized dental care. Dr. Gehring received the recognition during AGD’s 2024 Scientific Session in Minneapolis.
The Lifelong Learning and Service Award is given only to AGD members who have achieved more than just the Master's degree, the association's highest honor. To receive this award, Dr. Gehring completed at least 1,600 hours of continuing dental education in 16 different dental disciplines. In addition, recipients must complete at least 100 hours of dentistry-related community/volunteer work.
“Those who receive the Lifelong Learning and Service Award from the AGD demonstrate true leadership and embody the core principles and values of community service and a commitment to excellence in dental care,” said AGD President Marlin Ohmer, DDS, MAGD. “For Dr. Gehring, this award represents a commitment to learning, leadership, mentorship and the pursuit of excellence in the field of dentistry.”
Since its inception in 2005, only 511 of AGD’s 40,000 members have received the prestigious Lifelong Learning and Service Award.
