The 49ers are preparing Levi's Stadium for two major sporting events in the near future.
San Francisco is investing $200 million in renovations at Levi's Stadium ahead of Super Bowl 50 and the 2026 FIFA World Cup, both of which will be held at the venue in the same year.
Perhaps most notable will be the upgrades to the videoboards around the stadium, with state-of-the-art displays being installed, giving Levi's Stadium the largest 4K display in the league, plus an additional 13,000 square feet of LED screen upgrades.
Levi's Stadium will also be getting a new LED field lighting system to “illuminate the playing field for primetime nighttime games while conserving energy.”
“After a packed non-NFL event schedule that included five football games and three concerts, our stadium operations team turned its attention to football,” Francine Melendez Hughes, executive vice president and general manager of stadium operations, said in a press release. “We've been hard at work renovating and upgrading parts of the stadium for our fans, but we're not done yet – some of our biggest projects are yet to come. We're excited to continue innovating to provide our fans with the best viewing experience in the NFL.”
The facility has also upgraded to a Cisco Wi-Fi 6 infrastructure with 1,300 access points providing high-speed internet everywhere, as well as upgrading its wireless network connectivity with a new 5G distributed antenna system, “ensuring the best connectivity for fans of any NFL building.”
“Frictionless concessions” will be installed in the main concourse at Levi's Stadium, providing an alternative way for fans to purchase basic food and drink items without going through a cashier.
There will also be upgrades to a number of stadium and club sections, including two new outdoor patio bars at the Graton Winners Club and the transformation of more than 120 luxury suites.
