JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM, Texas – Naval Medical Force Development Command welcomed Timothy Bergqvist to the team Aug. 26, 2024, as an eLearning Development Specialist.
A San Antonio native, Bergqvist loves cooking, hiking, singing, and is always looking for ways to learn and improve on home brewing.
We recently asked Bergkvist a few questions about his life, career, and his thoughts on joining the NMFDC team.
Q: What was your previous job?
A: I worked as a contractor for the Air Education and Training Command, directly supporting the Air Force's learning management system, myLearning.
Q: Advance service?
A: I served in the Air Force for 13 years as a power production specialist, the last four of which were as a technical training instructor.
Q: What will you be doing as an eLearning Development Specialist at NMFDC?
A: Primarily, you will work closely with the command's education systems specialists and subject matter experts to certify, build, test and roll out e-learning for Navy Medicine.
Q: What are you looking forward to in your new role?
A: I am excited to serve again and grow professionally.
Q: What would you like the NMFDC team to know about you?
A: I have a Master's of Education degree with a concentration in Instructional Technology from Wayland Baptist University, as well as a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Information Systems Management and a minor in Education and Training Management.
Q: Can you tell us something interesting about yourself?
A: My hobbies range from 3D printing, coding, tinkering with Raspberry Pi, Bible study, cooking, hiking, singing, etc. I also lead and host a group where members can learn and improve their home brewing skills, including mead making.
Q: Anything else you'd like to add?
A: I lead a small group of professionals that meets monthly to focus on all aspects of training and development, and I serve on the board of a non-profit organization focused on providing educational materials to help men in their marriages.
