Last week, Microsoft released a release preview build for Windows 11 Insiders flying the channel. New build 22621.2500 was released as KB5031455. In addition to all the announced changes, improvements, and fixes, Twitter(X) user and his Windows enthusiast techosarusrex noted that Microsoft has made some interesting changes to settings related to Windows 11’s default system applications. I noticed that.
In this build,[システム]Windows 11 Settings in the menu now has a new separate[システム コンポーネント]Section added. When you launch this System Components option, all system applications will be listed under this section.
This change will be reflected in Windows 11 23H2, which Microsoft has confirmed will be released later this quarter. The tech giant has already released some features through the Moment 4 22H2 feature update, but more features are expected to be introduced in his 23H2 feature update, including the system components discussed here. In case you haven’t been following along yet, the Redmond giant is currently busy verifying the suitability of the system requirements for Windows 11 23H2.
This isn’t the first time Microsoft has been found trying to make it easier to separate system apps. The first such change was noticed on the Dev Channel in July, when stock apps in the Start Menu icon now had a “System” label instead of the “Microsoft” label previously.
Just a month later, Microsoft added an option to the Windows 11 Canary channel to easily uninstall such apps. On a somewhat unrelated note, in the same month, namely August, Microsoft assured in the Dev channel that system components would launch through the default browser set by the user. However, this only applies to the European Economic Area (EEA).
