A new private Christian school is proposed for construction on Mobile Highway.
Life Shifting Learning Academy plans to build a second school in Escambia County that will serve about 50 students, keep classes to 12 or fewer students and provide “individualized attention to support each student's learning journey,” according to a project description submitted to the county.
The academy's first school is already open along West Gadsden Street in West Pensacola, and the new location will be built at 4024 Mobile Highway.
The schools will not have cafeterias or kitchens, but will instead provide meals for students, who will eat catered meals in their classrooms outside of school hours, maintaining a calmer and more focused learning environment, according to the project description.

The school also will not have a traditional playground on site; instead, students will go to local parks during breaks, with parental permission required.
The Escambia County Development Review Board is scheduled to review the proposal at a pre-application meeting on Wednesday. The project was submitted to the county on Aug. 20.
