One-lane restrictions extended on Washington Pike
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation crews announced that the one-lane restrictions on Washington Pike (U.S. 50) in Collier will be extended through early November.
The restrictions, which began in April, apply to westbound Washington Pike between the I-79 interchange and Commercial Drive and will continue to allow crews to complete drainage upgrades, road widening and sidewalk work, and ADA curb ramp improvements.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, sidewalks will remain closed and pedestrians will be asked to use temporary walkways. Detour signs have been posted along the route.
The total cost of the project is $5.61 million. According to the PA Department of Transportation, work this year will include road widening to create a left-turn lane at the intersection of Washington Pike and Vanadium Road and intersection renovations to eliminate dual-lane traffic at Eaton Park. PA Department of Transportation said the renovations should ease congestion in the area.
Other work will include new sidewalks, traffic signal upgrades, signs, updated pavement markings and guardrail work.
