The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) announced on Friday that it has teamed up with publisher Kodansha to simultaneously release the manga “India Calling Me Now” in India and Japan, which aims to raise gender awareness.
This manga series is published on Manga Planet India. We will address themes such as women’s education, social participation, and gender inequality to promote discussion and deepen understanding of gender.
“As co-publishers of manga, a precious cultural heritage of Japan known for its captivating storytelling and artistic talent, we aim to enable greater awareness and understanding of gender-related issues in India. ” said Mitsunori Saito, Director of JICA India. In a statement.
“This cooperation also plays an important role in promoting cultural exchanges between India and Japan to bring about systemic changes towards achieving gender equality,” he added. According to the agency, the manga series aims to attract the younger generation with its unique approach of engaging storytelling and expressive characters. “We aim to address social issues in India and the world through Japanese manga,” said Kodansha India Project Director Yoshiaki Koga.
The agency further stated that the comic series serves as an effective tool to promote positive attitudes and actions against gender bias, thereby raising awareness and initiating social change.
