The School of International Service’s Social Innovation for Global Impact (Graduation Certificate) applies innovation methods to social change and action in a global context, with a special focus on human rights, peacekeeping, and social contribution. provide students with the knowledge and skills to Governance and international development. This has both curricular and co-curricular elements.
Admission to the program
This certificate is available to students currently enrolled in a graduate degree program at American University. Students with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree from an accredited institution may also attend. Applicant must submit official transcripts along with her one-page statement of purpose.
Non-native English speakers must submit Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) results unless they have earned a degree from a U.S. accredited institution prior to enrolling at SIS there is. The minimum TOEFL score for full admission consideration is 100 on the Internet-based test (iBT) and 600 on the paper-based test (PBT). The minimum IELTS score is 7.0.
Certificate requirements
- 12 credit hours with a grade of C or better, including at least 6 credit hours at the 600 level or higher
- Complete the SIS Social Innovation Fellow (SIF) co-curricular program
- Compliance with regulations regarding certificates (Graduate School Regulations 4.11, 5, 6)
