The Albert Lea Area Learning Center is located on the Riverland Community College campus and serves approximately 90 students in grades 9-12.
However, this is not the only program offered by Albert Lea Regional Learning Center. ALC also offers programs for grades kindergarten through 12th grade during the school year and in the summer.
Summer Offers: This program is offered during the summer and is open to students in grades 1-8. Provide academic support and educational experiences for students beyond traditional grade levels. Last summer, the program served more than 340 of her students. In addition to classroom instructional support, students also participate in experiential educational instruction from community education staff. Students can increase their learning by kayaking, rock climbing, and participating in field trips in and around Albert Lea. Targeted Services programming is also known as Tiger Tail.
Extended Day Covered Services: This program provides engaging learning support for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade after school during the school year. Currently, 280 students are participating in Tiger Tales from Monday to Thursday at all elementary schools and Southwest Middle School.
Middle School Program: The middle school program supports students in grades 6 and 7 with an emphasis on academic organization as well as social and emotional learning. Twenty-nine students are participating in the program at Southwest Middle School during regular school hours.
Credit Recovery Program: Credit recovery allows Albert Lea High School students and area high school students to stay on track toward graduation by taking required courses they did not pass during regular classes. This program is offered after school on Mondays and Tuesdays during the school year, and four mornings a week through June as well as during the summer.
ALC programming’s approach is to provide an alternative learning environment for students to excel and grow. All programs offered through the Albert Lea Area Learning Center are taught by dedicated licensed teachers and her supporting staff. The Albert Lea Area Learning Center’s programming spans all grade levels and provides opportunities and support for many students during both the school year and summer.
Consider showing your appreciation for our licensed staff by nominating an influential educator during the Teacher Of The Year nomination process.
You can find the nomination form by visiting the “About” link on the school website (www.alschools.org).
