Last month, Microsoft began offering its Copilot service, previously available on Windows 11 and the Edge browser, as a standalone app available for download on Android and iOS. The app basically provides users with a generative AI chatbot powered by the latest AI models, namely GPT-4 and DALL-E 3, and search functionality with the Bing search engine.
Copilot’s great features
If you’ve used Copilot or Bing Chat before, you’ll see a familiar interface where you can start typing your requests and try sample prompts to test the app. There is a text box at the bottom where you can type your question. You can also tap the microphone icon to speak your request. The camera icon next to it allows you to upload photos and images for the app to analyze.
Switching on GPT-4 provides a more reliable and accurate response compared to standard models. It also includes a text-to-image model, DALL-E 3, so you can ask Copilot to generate photos, art, and other visuals based on your text descriptions.
Basically, Copilot offers most of the features that ChatGPT’s premium tier offers, except that it’s free. Read our comparison to see which app is right for you.
Ability to use Copilot
You can use Copilot for everything you use ChatGPT. However, Copilot has a much lower input limit of 4,000 characters and cannot be used to summarize larger chunks of text. Aside from this drawback, you can use this app for:
Draft email: Copilot helps you write professional emails by providing thoughtful and consistent responses when asked for context about the email recipient, topic, and purpose. For example, “I’m going to write a polite email to my boss asking for next Friday off for a doctor’s appointment.”
Story and script writing: Copilot helps you brainstorm ideas for stories, novels, screenplays, sketches, and more. Start by providing a sample of the genre, basic premise, or opening.
Translation and proofreading: Copilot allows you to translate text between common languages such as English, Spanish, and French. It also helps you refine and polish your writing by rephrasing it and correcting grammar and spelling mistakes.
I’ll start writing and updating again. Whether you’re modifying an existing resume or creating one from scratch, Copilot will help you create an attractive resume that, given the right background, is tailored to your career experience and the job you’re applying for. Excellent at creating.
Text summary: If your text is less than 4,000 characters long, you can ask Copilot to concisely summarize the key points and key points. This is great for quickly understanding concepts from complex content.
Create an itinerary: Describe your destination, length of stay, interests, and budget, and Copilot will suggest your ideal itinerary, complete with transportation, attractions, restaurants, and accommodations.
What you can do with Copilot’s DALL-E 3 integration
In addition to text input and output, Copilot can generate very user-friendly images with DALL-E 3 integration.
Creating a logo design: Enter details about your company name, industry, target audience, and other branding elements, and Copilot will suggest a logo design for you.
Create a custom background: You tell Copilot the mood, style, and purpose of your background image, and it generates one for you. Perfect for presentations, desktop wallpapers, etc.
Generating social media content: Just enter the image description you want for your social post into Copilot and it will automatically create the image for you.
Development of brand motif: Describe your brand identity and Copilot can design your logo, graphics, and other assets.
Build and update your portfolio: Copilot can create portfolio-worthy images for your project, given instructions to run it.
Illustration book: Authors can bring their characters and scenes to life by having Copilot create custom artwork based on their text.
