The Golden Gophers will host the Best of the Best Dance Showcase on January 5th at Williams Arena. The event is scheduled to start at 7 p.m., and general admission tickets are available here. Spectators will be able to see outstanding dance performances from high schools and colleges across the state.
The Gophers will also host their annual Nationals Showcase on Sunday, January 7, 2023. The showcase will be held at Maturi Pavilion at 12pm and doors open at 11:30am. This event is free and open to the public.
At the showcase, the cheer team, dance team, goldie gopher. The event begins with the cheer team’s game day routine. His college game day routine includes three sections: fight songs, sidelines, and timeouts. Spectators can expect to see many of the traditions taken directly from the Minnesota sidelines in this performance, where fan interaction is strongly encouraged.
The dance team takes up position on the next floor and performs a jazz routine as the current national title holders. This year’s choreography is a collaboration between the team’s coaching staff and athletes, is very personal to each dancer on the floor, and features homages to earlier eras in the team’s championship history.
For the first time in program history, the cheer team’s stunt group will compete in the girls “4” group stunt division at this year’s national championships. The group will perform an all-female stunt routine in front of fans for the first time at this year’s send-off, showcasing their extraordinary stunt difficulty and technical skills.
What comes next is goldie gopher. With the help of creative props, Goldie tells the story through his 90-second skits. In the competitive category ranked by entry video, Goldie qualified to compete at the national level as one of his three mascots representing the Big Ten.
The cheer team returns to the floor for a small co-ed routine. This year’s team, which finished with a bronze medal in this category at last year’s national championships, is building bigger stunts and pyramids, adding difficulty in additional baskets and tumbling skills to create a jam-packed routine.
The dance team closes the show with a pomme routine. This year’s pom routine was choreographed by Anna Hilty and dance team coaches Amanda Gaines and Tia Tumbleson. The reigning champion team is ready to amaze with this advanced technology and fast-paced performance.
The Minnesota Spirit Squad is one of the most prestigious and historic programs in the nation, hosting a combined 25 UCA/UDA national championships. The program will travel to Orlando, Fla., on Friday, Jan. 12, to compete in his 2024 UCA/UDA National Championships, where he will compete in six divisions across the program.
