Super apps are mobile applications or web applications that can provide multiple services such as payments and financial transaction processing, and can also be used for commerce and communication, bringing various benefits to personal and commercial life.
Williams said super apps are beneficial to society because they can provide real-time data for both businesses and customers to make informed financial decisions.
“Super App enables data analysis for both customers and vendors. As we move towards a digital Jamaica and a cashless society, Super App enables that process by allowing you to see your numbers on the go. and make smarter decisions about spending and accessing services,” she revealed.
Williams spoke at the E-Gov Technology Showcase on November 29 at the AC Hotel. The event was held under the theme “Digital Transformation – Doing IT Right!”
The product manager said the super app could also help schools and the medical sector by allowing students and patients to pay tuition fees and access medical services.
“The super app also makes paying fees more efficient. You can pay your tuition fees for schools across Jamaica in a secure transaction through a central site on the app, without having to visit each school’s website. “Imagine providing better tracking for students and teachers and better scholarship management when needed,” she said.
“For the healthcare sector, this increases operational efficiency, reduces operating costs, and can also be used to improve mobile operating services,” she added.
Williams emphasized that MC Systems is currently developing a super app that will allow all government agencies to provide services in one place. She revealed that as an additional feature of MC Systems’ super app, a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) is fully integrated and linked to bank accounts available to Jamaicans.
The technology advocate explained that for businesses such as financial institutions and MSMEs, super apps offer a wide range of possibilities to help improve customer service and improve the ability to transact with customers around the world.
“Financial institutions can increase their access to new and emerging markets, which means they are no longer limited to Jamaica. They can also enhance transactions, improve efficiency and reduce cash handling. , we can also accelerate modernization,” she explained.
