The Samsung Phone app is now available for Windows. If you’re a Galaxy user, you’ll want this feature as it brings iPhone continuity-like functionality to Samsung devices connected to your Windows-based laptop. This isn’t new, as Link to Windows already allows this feature, but Samsung’s own Phone app feature would definitely provide a better experience.
Samsung Phone app enables native continuity on Galaxy mobile devices and Galaxy notebooks
Once you download and set up the Samsung Phone app on your Windows laptop, you’ll be able to take advantage of this continuous feature that allows you to receive calls from your laptop. The app is currently available in the Microsoft Store, but as of this writing it’s only limited to the Galaxy Book 4 series, which is no surprise. However, we hope this feature is extended to other laptops soon. The app description says:
“Never miss an important call again. Use your Galaxy phone’s phone number and mobile plan to make and receive calls on your PC.”
This app is available in the Microsoft Store, but please note that it may not be available to all users. It may take some time for the rollout to reach everyone, but what concerns me is that Samsung maintains exclusivity only on the Galaxy Book 4 series, and the phone app is currently no longer available on other laptops. It’s not supported at the top. We hope this will change in the future so more users can experience how beneficial this feature is.
Speaking of continuity and ecosystem, I often talk about how Samsung is gradually turning into Apple, and in a good way. Having something like this is definitely a great experience for users as it allows for a seamless experience across all connected devices. Bringing Samsung Phone apps to Windows is one thing I really admire, and I hope the company continues to work on this ecosystem and make it even better in the future.
