I think we’ve all seen Santa flying through the sky with Rudolph in the lead.
But now, with the help of technology, children across the North East can feel the magic of Christmas like never before.
There are plenty of apps, websites, and TV guides you can download this Christmas Eve. Watch as the giant man in red rides around the region on his sleigh, delivering presents to good boys and girls tonight.
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, Santa left his North Pole cave and workshop around 9am this morning, but where will he visit the rest of the day?
Here are some of the best ways to track him this year.
Some of the best ways to track Santa on Christmas Eve
NORAD app
One of the most popular “official” ways to track Santa is using the NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) app.
The NORAD Santa website states: “NORAD’s predecessor, the Continental Air Defense Command (CONAD), began tracking Santa in 1955.NORAD replaced CONAD in 1958, taking over the mission of tracking Santa’s flights around the world, and annually We’ve been tracking Santa for a year now.”
Additionally, “Santa typically departs from the International Date Line in the Pacific Ocean and travels westward. So, historically, Santa first visits the South Pacific, then New Zealand and Australia.
“Then he will fly across Japan, Asia and Africa to Western Europe, Canada, the United States, Mexico and Central and South America.
“Please keep in mind that Santa’s route can be affected by weather and is therefore truly unpredictable. NORAD will coordinate with Santa’s Elf launch staff to confirm launch times, but from that point on Santa gets to decide, we just have to track him down!”
The NORAD app can be downloaded from the Apple or Google Play stores.
