An analysis of orders booked in 2022-2023 on the delivery app Glovo revealed that Ukrainians ordered 73% more from restaurants, supermarkets and non-food stores this year than last year. Ukrainian cuisine has become one of the most popular genres, and traditional Ukrainian borscht ranks fourth in the list of the most popular dishes.
2023 record
The busiest day for Globo in 2023 was December 17th, the day with the highest number of orders from Ukrainian customers.
The most active delivery company made 11,280 deliveries this year.
Glovo’s largest customer this year was 1,267 orders totaling more than $2,500.
Customers in Kyiv’s Vyshhorod suburb were the most generous in tipping couriers.
The most expensive order was a Chinese meal that cost nearly $500.
In terms of quantity, the largest order was the delivery of 184 items from the supermarket VARUS.

Delivery from restaurant
In 2023, restaurant deliveries increased by 70% compared to the previous year. Ukrainians have a wide variety of culinary tastes, with the most popular cuisines being American, Italian, Asian, Ukrainian, and Eastern European.
The most popular dishes ordered are burgers, pizza, kebabs, borscht, and sushi, with orders for Ukrainian food increasing by 40%.
Some of the most popular Ukrainian dishes include borscht, pancakes, dumplings, solyanka soup, chicken Kiev, and cottage cheese syrniki. Kiev, Ivano-Frankivsk and Dnipropetrovsk top the list for ordering national dishes, which are usually delivered for lunch between 11am and 2pm.
This year, Glovo customers ordered 62% more seafood dishes than last year, with most of them ordered on Friday nights. Fish soup, risotto or spaghetti with seafood topped the list of the most popular dishes in this category.
Demand for baked goods also increased, with orders including breads and pastries increasing by 44%, with croissants, cheesecakes and donuts being the most popular.
A notable change in consumer behavior is the growing popularity of pick-up and take-out. This year, the number of takeout orders from restaurants increased by 25% compared to 2022.

delivery from supermarket
The number of orders from supermarkets increased by 84%, and orders from Glovo Express’ dark store increased by 98%.
This year, Glovo expanded its dark store network to 12 stores in Kiev, Lviv, Odessa, Kharkiv, Dnipro, and added one new store in Vinnytsia. The number of customers choosing home delivery increased by 52%. The most popular time to buy groceries through the app is Sunday at 6pm, and the most popular items include bottled water, bananas, beer, potatoes, eggs, and chicken.
Ukrainians are increasingly adding sweets to their shopping carts. In 2023, the number of sweets orders will nearly triple. The peak for sweets orders was March 8th, he said, but sweets are usually in high demand around 4pm on Sundays.
Non-food delivery
In 2023, non-food deliveries increased 91% year over year. The number of orders from pet stores has increased 11 times, and the number of customers ordering pet supplies has increased 9 times.
The most popular products in this category are pet food, cat litter, and puppy diapers. Another category that has grown significantly in 2023 is electronic products. Deliveries of these products increased by 170%, with batteries and USB cables being the most popular ordered items.

Cosmetics shipments increased by 124% this year, with eye patches and eyebrow concealers being the most popular products.
