GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — Growing up in Minnesota, Julia McClellan came to appreciate the real estate in front of her refrigerator during the holidays.
“Of course we have to put Christmas cards there,” McClellan said. “I’m obsessed with Christmas.”
McClellan said she loves Christmas so much that she decided to make her own Christmas cards this year.
But as a professional marketer, she also decided to utilize her small space to market herself.
“Here’s a little secret message,” McClellan said. “It says, ‘Do you see this on my friend’s fridge? Are you a single man between the ages of 25 and 35? I’m Julia and this is my child.’ ” I will also include my phone number. ”
McClellan said the card was a light-hearted way for her to acknowledge the difficulties she and many other single people have encountered using dating apps such as Hinge and Bumble.
McClellan: “This started with me having a bunch of really bad dates and thinking, ‘It’s the end of the year, so I want to do something funny and make my friends laugh.'” That was really the intention. ”
Kent: “But I’m here.”
McClellan: “Yeah! Some people sent it to other people, and we’re talking about it in the living room right now…on TV.”
In a video she posted about her card on TikTok, McClellan admitted she’s never alone when it comes to bad encounters online, but said 2023 looks like it’s even worse than ever. Ta.
“On one of our dates, he told me that he had some female colleagues,” she said. “He said, ‘She decided that women can’t make rational decisions for themselves.’ She said, ‘She’s really trying to make rational decisions.’ I thought. Needless to say, I didn’t go on the second date. Can we have a normal conversation? Have fun! ”
She claims she’s not looking for a specific type, just a great man between the ages of 25 and 35.
“I’m 27 years old, so I don’t want to look too much younger than my age,” she said. “I’d like just a grown man.”
And she said she had one more requirement.
McClellan: “You have to love your dog. If you don’t love your dog, I don’t know…therapy?”
Erdahl: “Did you get any positive feedback from your friends and family?”
McClellan: “The main response is a big laugh. ‘This is amazing. I can’t believe you did this.'”
Erdal: “And your parents?”
McClellan: “Yeah, it’s on my parents’ fridge. I mean, my parents have friends of all ages, so I don’t know if someone my age would pass through their kitchen at home, but they’re in Florida. I’m in there. I’m a guy from Minnesota.”
Erdahl: “Okay, I’m going to stick this on your big TV refrigerator. Are you ready to be bombarded with messages?”
McClellan: “I mean, we definitely need to try something. Why not?”
