South Korean electronics giant LG has announced several new education, personal growth, and lifestyle apps and content that will run on webOS-based smart TVs.
Ahead of CES 2024, where the world’s biggest consumer electronics brands will unveil their latest products of the year, LG shares a list of new apps, platforms and features that it hopes will “meet users’ personal tastes and interests” did. The company’s TVs “enrich and entertain a variety of lifestyles,” says a press release.
For adults, LG is bringing popular online learning platform Udemy to webOS, providing access to a roster of more than 200,000 courses in 3,000 subjects and 75+ languages. Apple and Android users have previously been able to participate in Udemy’s wide range of instructor-led courses from around the world through the Udemy app, but now LG Smart TV owners can also participate. Courses cover a wide variety of topics including business and professional development, entrepreneurship, health and fitness programming, languages, music, data science, and more. However, it’s not free. Each course is priced individually, and the webOS app acts as your access point.

For kids, LG is adding the ABCmouse platform to its list of options for parents to sit their kids in front of research-validated digital learning. ABCmouse is aimed at children from ages 2 to 8 and teaches the basics of reading, writing, language, math, science, health, social studies, art, music, and more through fun and colorful animated exercises and video content. It’s all covered.
LG also believes that adding content from Pinkfong Company will do a good job of drawing in major users. Yes, we mean Baby Shark. And while it’s unclear in the press release exactly when and how this earworm celebrity shark will arrive on his webOS, the kids’ app Baby Shark World will feature “Learning English, healthy habits… nurturing, singing and dancing.” Follow the Rhythm and Enjoy the Cinematic Version of the Movie” is “coming soon.”
If you’re interested in playing games on your TV, incorporating the Volley app adds AI voice games like Jeopardy, Song Match, and The Price is Right to WebOS. Anipang Match, on the other hand, is another play-to-learn game that kids can get their hands on. Cute animated characters will also appear. LG sees fit to integrate the use of the Magic Remote into gameplay.
Whether it’s using the Peloton app on Apple TV or watching millions of yoga YouTube videos, many people are already using their TVs for workouts. LG is looking to further improve its functionality for users by adding Alo Moves, the famous yoga and wellness platform, to webOS. Yoga enthusiasts can enjoy expert-led, personalized yoga, fitness, mindfulness, self-care, and nutrition programs through the app.
Finally, LG Smart TV owners who want to turn their living room into an art gallery will love the addition of Saatchi Art and Daily Art Story apps/services that bring professionally curated art and collections to your screen in high resolution is. Again, these services may have fees, so keep that in mind.
