If you plan on using a fitness tracker to monitor your health, gaining a little weight could be an unwanted side effect of eating lots of delicious treats this holiday season.
With so much food and drink on vacation, all the treats can take a toll on your waistline.
According to a study published in New England Medical JournalThe average person gains about 1 pound during this season.
It’s also gift-giving season, so many of us may be unwrapping these fitness devices to shake up our workouts for the new year.
But while health trackers can help measure things like our activity levels and sleep patterns, Samantha Kleinberg from Stephen College of Technology says all that data can be overwhelming. .
“Now when you see an ad for a new device, whether it’s a smartwatch or something that tracks your sleep or a ringtone, in different form factors, you think, ‘Oh, that’s cool.'” You can.” And then there’s this tenuous connection where you’re like, “Somehow, if I learn more, I’ll be able to do something with it.” But commercials don’t really tell you how to do that,” Kleinberg said.

Having a goal you want to achieve allows you to better understand your data, but it can be inaccurate, Kleinberg says.
“People use information from their Fitbit and other devices to figure out how many calories they burn in a day. [you] can be eaten, and if [you] Eat less than that, [you’re] You lose weight,” she explained. “But if the device is inaccurate, you will get different results than you expected.”
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that adults do at least 15 minutes of moderate physical activity each week and devote two days to strengthening their muscles.
