DuckDuckGo, a search engine that prioritizes user privacy, has a new feature in its browser app for Android users that lets them block third-party trackers in apps and games.
The feature, called “App Tracking Protection,” has been in beta for about a year, but is now available to everyone. DuckDuckGo says the feature works offline and no data is sent to any servers, including its own servers.
When enabled, users will be notified daily of the number of tracking attempts blocked on their device during the week, and a report will be sent weekly thereafter.
According to the search engine company, a small number of apps, including the browser, Android Auto, YouTube, and WhatsApp, are excluded from app tracking protection by default as they may cause some problems.
How to enable DuckDuckGo app tracking protection on Android
1. Download and install DuckDuckGo browser on your Android device from Google Play Store.
2. Open the app, tap the three-dot menu that appears at the top right of the screen, and click “Settings”
