Apple has released iOS 17.2, the biggest iPhone update in recent months.
The new version of the operating system includes several features that were announced in the new iOS 17 upgrade but weren’t available when it was first released in September, including a new Journal app. It also includes some unexpected changes, including the ability to record video for Apple’s upcoming Vision Pro virtual reality headset.
As usual, you can download the update by opening the Settings app, clicking General, and selecting the Software Update option. The iPhone will eventually prompt the user to install the new update after some time.
Perhaps the most obvious and biggest upgrade is the release of the Journal app. It’s meant to allow people to write down moments in their lives, and Apple suggests it could help people monitor and improve their mental health.
This app includes a variety of features aimed at reminding people to write diaries and helping them write those entries. Users can schedule notifications to remind them to add entries, and the app collects information like workouts and photos from other apps to provide suggestions for what to write.
The update also adds an option to turn the new iPhone 15 Pro action button into a translation tool, as well as improvements to the Messages, Music, and Weather apps. This update also includes a number of small improvements and bug fixes, including the introduction of new charging standards for some older phones.
The new download also adds the option to shoot spatial videos on iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. It uses multiple cameras on your phone to shoot a 3D video of him.
These will only display correctly on the headset, which is expected to be released early next year. On the phone itself, it only appears as a regular video.
