The Kelso-Longview Kiwanis Club is collecting new blankets for its Kwilts for Kids campaign. New blankets and fleeces from the JOANN Fabric and Craft store His blanket kits can be dropped off at Three Rivers Christian School until February 12th. You can also call Carol at 360-636-1600 to arrange pick-up. All blankets will be donated to Broadway Community House and Emergency Shelter.

Relay for Life fundraiser

The Longview Eagles will host a fundraising breakfast for Relay for Life. Pancakes, sausages and drinks cost $5 for adults and $3 for children. Organizers recommend bringing a camera, as you can also take photos with Santa.

YMCA 100th Anniversary Party

The YMCA of Southwest Washington will celebrate its 100th anniversary on Dec. 17 with an open house with music, raffles, historic photos, a treasure hunt and, of course, cake. According to the YMCA website, the local nonprofit organization was founded in January 1923 with the City of Longview, with its original facility located at 500 Oregon Way.

Lutefisk and meatball dinner
Jan. 14, seating time is noon to 3:30 p.m., 224 Catlin St., Kelso.
Sons of Norway will be hosting their annual Lutefisk and Meatball Dinner this January. The menu includes lutefisk with cream sauce and melted butter, meatballs and gravy, potatoes, green beans, coleslaw, coffee, tea, and lefse. Assorted cookies will also be available for dessert. Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for children ages 3-10. Seating times run through the afternoon and evening and include noon, 12:30 p.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. To reserve tickets, call 360-431-6472.
Scatch Fest 2024

Celebrate and learn about Sasquatch while listening to speakers, authors, and researchers at this annual event hosted by the Kelso-Longview Chamber of Commerce. Vendors will sell unique items and Brew Mountain’s beer and wine garden will also be featured. For youngsters, there’s a Kids Cave filled with games and other activities.
Introductory beekeeper workshop
Tuesdays, 6-8:30 p.m., Jan. 30-Feb. 20, at the Cowlitz County Training Center, 1942 First Ave., Longview.
Attend a beginner’s workshop hosted by Washington State University’s Master Gardeners and Cowlitz Beekeepers Association. Registration for the event is $50 and must be completed by January 15th. Only 25 spots are available. Because there is no graduation certificate, event registration includes the attendance of an additional family member who can audit the class.
