Funds will go toward building a fully accessible playground that will benefit children and their families, including people with disabilities.
Today, Walmart announced a $30,000 donation to support the Castle Park project. The Castle Park Project is an initiative initiated by Augusta community members to create a unique playground that is fully accessible to children and families with physical, visual, and other disabilities. Or an assignment. This donation is part of Walmart’s continued commitment to invest in and support the communities it serves through local giving, volunteerism and programs that strengthen community cohesion.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to give back to the community and support the Cast Park project,” said Nathan Miller, Augusta Walmart Store Manager. It will bring real benefits to the community.”
The playground design includes sign language and Braille boards, as well as play equipment specifically designed for people with mobility disabilities, allowing all visitors to play and explore.
Mayor Mike Rawlings said: “Rebuilding Castle Park has been an important priority for our community.” “We are encouraged by the generosity of our community, including Walmart, which has been an important part of Augusta since 1980. We are extremely grateful for their partnership.”
Congresswoman Christy Williams hopes it will become a regional hub for healthy outdoor play. “The Castle Park project is near and dear to our community, especially as it will be built in nine days with the help of more than 3,000 volunteers,” Williams said. “Walmart’s grant win demonstrates the power of public-private partnerships to help build stronger communities.
