High school basketball fans have several options this weekend as 30 varsity games will be played across four events in Summit County.
Barberton will host the K. Jack Greynolds Memorial Classic on Saturday, while St. Vincent St. Louis will host the K. Jack Greynolds Memorial Classic on Saturday. Mary will host the Holy Ground Showcase on Saturday.
Archbishop Hoban and Springfield will host games at the Hoban Hoopfest and Spartan Holiday Boys Basketball Showcase on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

K. Jack Greynolds Memorial Classic at Barberton
This year marks the 18th year of the Classic, which honors legendary Barberton men’s basketball coach Jack Greynolds, who passed away in 2005.
Proceeds from this event will benefit the Lake Anna YMCA, Magic City Kiwanis, Barberton Public Schools, and the Larry Bidlingmeyer Outdoor Education Fund for youth programs, equipment, and stroke awareness education.
Barberton Athletic Director John Sabol said the Greynolds Classic has raised more than $250,000 over the past 17 years.
This year’s event begins at 12:15 p.m. with the Springfield vs. Barberton girls basketball game on the Greynolds floor. Four boys basketball games will follow, including Cuyahoga Heights vs. Chippewa at 2 p.m., Norwegian vs. Ellett at 3:30 p.m., Firestone vs. Hoban at 5 p.m., and Barberton vs. Rootstown at 6:30 p.m.
Hoban is the Division I boys basketball state champion.
Greynolds coached at Revere for 12 years and Barberton for 18 years. He had a career record of 549-121 (343-61 against Barberton) and never had a losing season.
Greynolds led Barberton to the 1976 Class AAA state championship with a 25-0 record. The Magic were Class AAA state runners-up in 1977 (25-1) and 1982 (22-6).
Greynolds’ teams also won 17 sectional titles, six district titles and three regional titles.
St. Vincent St. Paul’s Holy Ground Showcase Mary
The Holy Grounds Showcase will feature four men’s varsity basketball games at LeBron James Arena. The event begins at noon with the junior varsity game between STVM and Cincinnati Moeller.
The rest of the schedule includes STVM vs. Mueller at 1:45 p.m., Brush vs. CVCA at 3:30 p.m., and Lutheran West vs. Frederick Douglass (Atlanta, Ga.) at 5:15 p.m.Eastern Lutheran vs. Holy Name at 7 p.m.
Lutheran West finished second to Buchtel in Division II state last season, and Lutheran East is the defending Division III state champion.
Hoban Hoopfest
Hoban will host 13 women’s varsity basketball games this weekend, eight on Saturday and five on Sunday.

Spartan Holiday Boys Basketball Showcase in Springfield
Springfield will host eight varsity boys basketball games this weekend, five on Saturday and three on Sunday.
