Walmart plans to open its fifth next-generation fulfillment center in Stockton, California, in 2026, as it looks to strengthen its e-commerce capabilities as it competes with Amazon.
Walmart said the 900,000-square-foot facility will employ more than 1,000 people. The facility will also be equipped with automation systems.

Walmart plans to open its fifth next-generation fulfillment center in Stockton, California, in 2026, as it looks to strengthen its e-commerce capabilities as it competes with Amazon.
Walmart said the 900,000-square-foot facility will employ more than 1,000 people. The facility will also implement automation and machine learning technology to increase the center’s ability to fulfill orders and expand Walmart’s expedited delivery capabilities.
“In response to our customers’ growing demand for online shopping, we are implementing technology that improves the speed and accuracy of our delivery to our customers,” said Karisa Sprague, Walmart’s senior vice president of U.S. fulfillment network operations. .
As demand for fast delivery of online orders increases, Walmart is working to reach 95% of the U.S. population with next-day or next-day shopping.
