With less than three weeks until Christmas, residents of southwestern Montana are in the mood to celebrate the season.
Anaconda is featuring a “Ladies Night Out” tonight, Butte will hold its annual ice carving contest uptown on Saturday, and the Elks will host a fundraising breakfast on Sunday.
Upcoming walks and bazaars are also included in this list. There are also several other events. Just have to keep reading.
Ladies Night Out at Anaconda: Anaconda’s Copper Village Museum and Art Center will hold its annual “Ladies Night Out” Thursday at 6 p.m., upstairs at Anaconda Elks, 223 Main Street. Admission is $10 and includes one decoration or small gift. We will provide food and wine. There will also be a silent auction and wine pull where donated items are put together into live auction baskets.

Sheridan Library, which houses local authors: Friends of the Sheridan Library will host several local authors for a multi-author book signing at the Sheridan Public Library, 109 E. Ice carving contest: Uptown Butte’s popular ice carving contest is scheduled for Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It’s a great time watching the sculptors do their magic. Onlookers are asked to maintain a safe distance from the sculptors while they work.
Clark Chateau: Clark Chateau will host an intimate event on Saturday from 4pm to 8pm at 321 Broadway Street. The evening will feature a soup bar, drinks, live music and a silent auction. Proceeds will be donated to his two art programs: Young His Creator of Butte Youth and the Butte High School Internship Program. Bonus breakfast: Pancake Breakfast for Northwest Little League will be held from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Sunday at the Butte Elks Lodge (206 W. Galena St.). The menu includes pancakes, eggs, sausage or bacon, and coffee or juice. The cost is $10 per person.
Christmas tea: The Friends of the Hearst Free Library will be holding their annual Christmas Tea on the upper level of the library on Sunday at 2 p.m. This year’s event will feature music by the Community His Bell Choir and readings including Marion Gale’s “The Smelter Mouse Christmas.” We offer light snacks and tea from all over the world.
“December Twist Mass” — Brewery Follies of Virginia City will host “Twisted Mas in December” at Butte Elks Lodge, 206 W. Galena St., on Dec. 15 and 16 at 8 p.m. Doors open at 6:30. A fundraiser for the Butte Elks Lodge, this holiday event includes irreverent humor with a twisted Christmas theme. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door and can be purchased at the Freeway Bar, Headframe Spirits or the Butte Elks Lodge. In Anaconda, tickets can be purchased at the Midway Bar. A magnificent feast: Elling House Arts and Humanities Center will hold its annual Splendid Feast fundraising dinner on December 15th and 16th at 404 East Idaho Street, Virginia City. Wassail will be served from 6:30pm to 7pm, followed by a six-course meal prepared by chefs Janet Marsh and Ruth Huari. Meals cost $75 per person, $125 per couple, and $550 per table. Those who purchase a table will also receive a handmade wreath as a gift. Participants are encouraged to bring their own wine. Christmas concert: The Butte & Anaconda High School Choir and Mining City Choral Union will join the Butte Symphony Orchestra in a season-declaring concert at the Mother Lode Theater on Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature holiday classics and traditional Christmas music, along with “carol songs.” For ticket information, contact the Butte Symphony Orchestra at 406-723-5590.
Anaconda Murdoch’s live reindeer: On Sunday, Dec. 17, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., bring your camera and snap some photos as reindeer pays at the Murdoch home at 75 Fillmore Street in Anaconda. Children can write letters to Santa and learn how to make reindeer treats. Color holiday art.

Twin bridge: The annual Twin Bridges Christmas Walk and Christmas Festival will be held on Main Street Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. The evening will include events for the whole family, including a chili feast in a city park, a holiday concert at Twin Bridges High School, hayrides, and a visit from St. Nick.
Ennis: Ennis’ “Spirit of Christmas” walk will take place Friday from 3pm to 8pm. If you have a stroller, you can shop at local stores and get in the holiday spirit. Plus, Lions Club Park along the Madison River lights up festively this time of year.
Philipsburg: Celebrate Yule Night with Philipsburg on Friday from 4pm to 10pm, a festive evening of conviviality in Philipsburg. The evening will include live music, a lighted parade, photos with Santa, food and drinks, and more. This event is sponsored by the Philipsburg Chamber of Commerce.
Virginia City: The Virginia City Christmas Walk will be held on Saturday. Residents and visitors can check out all participating businesses. Cookie decorating is part of an all-day event along with a holiday craft show.
Whitehall: The Whitehall Christmas Festival will be held on Saturday from 10am to 5pm. The day promises to bring the magic of the season with crafts, activities, treats, Santa Claus, and more.

- Meadow Lands, located at 4034 Elizabeth Warren Ave., will host a Christmas bazaar at 11 a.m. Saturday. There will be vendors selling jewelry, food, holiday decorations and more.
- Pintler Pets’ annual Christmas Bazaar will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the former Dwyer Intermediate School, 1410 W. Park St. in Anaconda.
- Dillon’s annual Winter Bazaar will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Elks Lodge 1554, 27 E. Center St. in Dillon.
- The Powell County High School “Close Up” Holiday Bazaar will be held Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Powell County High School gymnasium, 709 Missouri Avenue in Deer Lodge. Vendors and benefits will be available.
- The Christmas Bazaar is scheduled for Dec. 16 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Butte Vigilante Rodeo and Saddle Club, 6354 Albany Ave.
