It’s starting to look like Christmas in Ascension Parish.
All three municipalities were planning holiday celebrations.
To kick off the season, Gonzales City officials welcomed visitors and kicked off the season with the festive tradition of lighting the Gonzales Christmas Tree.
Ascension Parish Municipality celebrated its 30th annual event.
The festivities included entertainment by Center Stage Performing Arts Academy and a visit from Santa Claus, which included small gifts.
The Gonzalez Jambalaya Festival Association provided jambalaya to attendees at events including in front of City Hall and at the nearby Gonzales Civic Center.

The City of Sorrento is planning a Christmas tree lighting event on Dec. 12 at 7471 Main Street starting at 4 p.m.
The Sorrento event was scheduled to include Santa Claus, carols, jambalaya, soft drinks, hot chocolate and cookies.
Donaldson Building Events in Crescent Park
The City of Donaldsonville’s annual Christmas tree lighting and vendor event is scheduled for Dec. 9 at Crescent Park starting at 6 p.m.
Formerly known as the Walk, visitors were encouraged to patronize local businesses and restaurants in the city’s historic downtown area.
