2023 Holiday Helper
If you love holidays and people, you’ll love volunteering at Opportunity House. The holidays are Opportunity House’s busiest time of the year and we need additional elves. Whether you are visiting us once or becoming a member of the Ophaus family, we welcome you. Volunteers ages 16 and older are needed from now through Dec. 22, Monday through Saturday, to help with a number of tasks, including stocking and displaying merchandise, assisting at the register, tagging clothing, and more. Training is provided and shifts are flexible. Cashiers are trained and sign up for either a 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. shift. Create a Winter Warming Kit event
Baby, it’s cold outside! All Monroe County high school students are invited to join the Monroe County Youth Council on Dec. 8 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. to enjoy hot beverages and help prepare winter warming kits . These kits will be distributed by Beacon, a Bloomington organization dedicated to assisting the unhoused population of Monroe County. Monroe County Youth Council (MCYC) is a youth-run organization founded in 2011 with the purpose of “improving the quality of life for youth in Monroe County, Indiana.” MCYC promotes and recognizes youth active in the community and facilitates youth volunteering opportunities for and by youth.
