1940s USO dance planned Friday in Tarentum
The Tarentum Elks and Alle-Kiski Alle-Kiski Valley Historical Society and Museum will sponsor a USO Dance in the Bomb Shelter Friday.
Doors will open at the museum at 5 p.m. and students from the Deer Lakes High School music department will perform 1940s music. Attendees will make their way to the bomb shelter which will be around the corner at the Elks Lodge. Tickets are $10 and include beer, pop, water, a small buffet and sweet treats. Entertainment will be by the 56 East Band and there will be a cash bar. Dress in 1940 attire is encouraged.
Proceeds will benefit the Elks National Foundation and the historical society.
Coat drive to benefit Highlands students
The fourth annual Winter Ready Rams coat drive to benefit children in the Highlands School District will continue through Oct. 30.
New and gently-used coats and hoodies in all sizes can be dropped off at the concession stand at the home varsity football games and at bins at 200 Banbury Lane, Natrona Heights, Harrison; 1023 Stieren Ave., Brackenridge; and 233 Chinkapin Drive, Natrona Heights.

Cosmic bingo to light up local fire company
A Halloween Cosmic Bingo will be at 7 p.m. Friday at at Kinloch Volunteer Fire Department, 915 New York Ave.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Cost is $30 and includes one bingo packet, light wand, dauber, light food and snacks. There will be a costume contest and extra packets will be sold. No outside alcohol is permitted.
