But in Fayette County alone, store security and local law enforcement are doing something about it, as police reports in recent months have shown.
The most recent example in Peachtree City occurred on Dec. 1 at a Walmart on Hwy. 54. Police were called after two men were reported to be skip-scanning multiple items at checkout and attempting to leave the store with all of the items.
Both suspects are John Rios, 45, of Fayetteville. Carlos Sanchez, 34, of Elizabeth, New Jersey, was arrested and transported to the Fayette County Jail on a charge of felony shoplifting after stealing over $500 worth of merchandise.
Elsewhere in Peachtree City, a traffic stop was conducted on Dec. 1 on a Toyota traveling southbound on the highway. 74 North Peachtree Parkway near.
