CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) — These days, when illnesses seem to pop up out of nowhere, it’s good to know where to find a clean public restroom when you need it.
U.S. Congresswoman Victoria Spartz seems to agree.
The Republican congressman from Noblesville on Monday recognized a Carmel High School student as the 2023 Congressional App Challenge House District Award Winner.
Jasper Zhu and his teammate Jackie Wei from California are creating the app “I Pooped There.” Once the app is released, people will be able to rate toilets and share their reviews with others.
In a YouTube presentation, Zhu and Wei said, “Poorly maintained restrooms are more likely to make occupants sick, and some restrooms may not have changing tables. , this is a problem for mothers with babies.”
Users can also upload images of their toilets to the public app. For techies, the team created web-based apps using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
I Pooped The first app to search for and rate public restrooms probably won’t exist. Once complete, it will join the apps SitOrSquat, Where to Wee, Flush, and Bathroom Scout.
“It’s a somewhat comedic idea, but it’s a very relevant issue,” Zhu said in a YouTube presentation.
In a news release, Spartz did not comment on the purpose of the Carmel High School student’s app, but said he is pleased the school is producing such bright individuals.
Jasper and other participants will be invited to the House of Code Winners Reception for the Congressional App Challenge to be held at the Capitol in the spring, according to the release.
