Bethlehem, Pennsylvania – 1st grade avery daukas He was one of many freshmen making his college debut as the Lehigh track and field program opened its indoor season this weekend at the Mountain Hawk opener. Dorcas competed for the first time as a Mountain Hawk, winning both the weight throw and shot put.
“For the first year, I’m looking forward to seeing how they perform under pressure at a new level where no one knows them, no one knows them and the expectations of the competition have changed. ” said the head coach. Kayla Ate. “I think they did relatively well.”
The Mountain Hawks had four student-athletes earn PRs and won 10 events after a productive offseason of training.
“It did a pretty good job of removing the rust,” Atte said. “We are getting back into the game and learning the importance of intentionality in practice to perform well.
“My main takeaway today is what I told the team in Thursday’s meeting: I want you to do your best to put yourself in a position to compete. I don’t want to hear about numbers, distance or times. “Compete. You have to learn how to win, because that’s how you learn how to win. Winning is a habit and only comes by knowing and adjusting how to compete in different situations. They did it very well. I think so.”
