CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — CCISD’s 12 Days of Christmas Calendar is a time for students, faculty and staff to dress up and have fun during the holiday season, but for parents who are struggling to buy clothes for their children. , which can be stressful.
Christmas is just over three weeks away, but CCISD’s Christmas festivities begin next week.
“We’ve got ugly sweaters, we’ve got green Grinches, we’ve got red,” said Christina Cahill, principal at Fay Webb Elementary School. “I like red days the most because we all have red. But “Do I have something with me every day?”
Terry Huerta, who has two children in CCISD schools, said the strain on parents around the holidays can be overwhelming.
Depending on the school, having multiple kids follow two different wardrobe calendars can be overwhelming for parents.
“Maybe you can make little things like arts and crafts in school, so kids can be reindeer or Olaf for the day,” she said. said. Since it may be possible, the stress on parents may be alleviated a little. So you don’t have to buy it. ”
Each school is different, but after speaking with Cahill, arts and crafts costume day is already on the agenda.
“One of the stations is going to make ugly sweaters,” she said. See you next week for Ugly Sweater Day. ”
Although it is not compulsory to follow the 12 Days of Christmas Calendar, parents do not want their children to be left out during this joyous time. Ms. Cahill does not have children at her school, she said.
“We have extra clothes, supplies, etc. When we go out to get elf ears, we always try to buy a few extra. Usually every year we have to go buy more. Hmm. Sad kids and I let everything go. We want to include everyone. We want to give them time to shop. Many things they already have. Just communicate with us and see how your child is feeling, and you can even get involved.”
Parents looking to purchase inexpensive Christmas items are encouraged to visit the 3rd Annual Christmas Shop at Webb Elementary School on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“That way they can come to the venue, enjoy the performances, do their Christmas shopping, enjoy local market stalls and support small businesses in our community,” she said.
