The Mountaineers currently have 12 alumni representing the Sun Belt on NFL rosters, and 49ers defensive coordinator Steve Wilkes is also an App State graduate.

henry pearson – FB, Green Bay Packers
Pearson is a standout tight end upstate and has been on the Packers’ roster this season as a fullback/H-back. He was promoted to the active roster before the Thanksgiving game at Detroit and played on both offense and special teams in the 29-22 victory.
In addition to his early offensive play and 11 special teams reps, Pearson also appeared in the victory formation’s knee down, capping off his debut in memorable fashion.

Darrington Evans – RB, Miami Dolphins
In his first game with the Dolphins, Evans played both offense and special teams, gaining 16 yards on two carries (including one for a 13-yard gain) in a 34-13 win over the New York Jets. did.
Evans was on the Dolphins’ roster before the understaffed Chicago Bears plucked him from Miami’s practice squad and added him to the active roster. He rushed for 105 yards (one touchdown) on 30 carries and caught seven passes for 49 yards in five games before Chicago waived him.
