The Army wants the app to include live traffic reports and real-time map navigation at facility gates, along with alerts to troops and community-specific messages from senior commanders, according to the notice.
The app uses crowdsourced information and aims to provide installation resources to soldiers going to military bases for the first time. A similar vision by Army veterans recently led to the creation of a Yelp-like review app for military dining and housing facilities.
