On Dec. 3, the Wayland Center comes alive with a holiday festival as the Grout Hard House Museum, Wayland Free Public Library, Depot, and First Parish present a variety of seasonal music and fun.
Refreshments will be served at the Grout Hard House Museum, decorated with greenery provided by the Wayland Garden Club, and several events will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Girl Scouts decorate the stone room alcoves with themed artwork, and children are invited to participate in events such as: Join us on a playful treasure hunt. At 2:30, a string quartet of Wayland High School musicians will perform, followed by another select group of high school musicians. Visitors are encouraged to tour the historic home.
Refreshments will also be served at the Wayland Free Public Library, located next to the Grout-Hard House Museum, and at 3 p.m., local musician David Polanski will lead a sing-along for guests of all ages in the Round Room on the second floor. Masu. Polanski will also play keyboards and trumpet.
First Parish will perform outdoors starting at 4:30 p.m., with music provided by the Sudbury Valley New Horizons Band, under the direction of Diane Maffitt, and carol singing led by veteran carol leader Maddie Sifantas. A caroling fest will be held. After the event, everyone can sing along and enjoy hot cocoa and cookies.
The depot is now open and offering a selection of unique items as well as booster apparel.
