Several events are scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 5, to help Missouri students and parents prepare to file the 2024-25 FAFSA. Students must submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) each year they plan to attend college to obtain all available financial aid.
FAFSA Frenzy events are held at Missouri Job Centers and public libraries in Kansas City, Park Hills, Sedalia, and Joplin.
- Kansas City, Missouri: Kansas City Public Library (Wold Branch), 201 E. 75th St. 4-7 p.m.
- Park Hills, Missouri: Park Hills Job Center, 403 Parkway Drive Suite A, 4-6 p.m.
- Sedalia, Missouri: Sedalia Job Center, 515 S. Kentucky Ave. 5 to 7 p.m.
- Joplin, Missouri: Joplin Job Center, 730 S. Wall Ave. 5-7 p.m.
“The FAFSA is the primary method for determining a student’s eligibility for most federal and state financial aid,” said Ben Boggs, secretary of the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development. “Although the FAFSA has not yet been officially released, now is the perfect time for students and their parents to set up an FSA ID and learn more about the information they will need to submit in December. These FAFSA Frenzy : FSA ID events are a great opportunity for students and parents to take the first step toward applying for grants, scholarships, work-study, and other financial aid.”
FAFSA has not been officially released yet. It typically opens on October 1st of each year.
The U.S. Department of Education said the delay is due to a new version of the form being released in December. This setback could delay the delivery of financial aid to universities.
The Missouri Department of Higher Education has more FAFSA events scheduled once the application period opens.
