East Grand Rapids won the Division III (small school) state title by more than 200 points. They started and finished the competition well, winning both the first and last event.
Junior led the team. katherine simon He won the 100 free in 50.65 and the 200 free in 1:49.77. Both swims were personal best times.
Simon also helped his team win the 200 and 400 free relays.team of Ellery Chandler, Gracie Putnam, Alyssa HineSimon won the 200 free in a time of 1:37.30. Simon ran an impressive anchor split of 23.05 seconds, which was the fastest split of anyone in the field by more than a second. In the 400m free relay, Ella Ghauri, Eva Bennett, Alyssa Hayne, and Simon recorded a combined final time of 3:33.02. Simon anchored the relay with a score of 50.61.
Chandler also won the 100m chest in a time of 1:03.17, winning the individual title and winning by more than two seconds. Last year, Chandler made great strides from his freshman to his sophomore season, as he was third in this meet with a time of swam 1:04.53.
Chandler also helped the team win the 200-meter medley relay. Addie Hayne, Maya ReifingerChandler, and ivy chu I swam to a final time of 1:46.56. Reifinger’s breaststroke split and Chandler’s butterfly split were the fastest in the field.
East Grand Spitz’s last win came in the 1-meter diving event, where Maria Colombo won with 441.40 points, winning by more than 50 points.
flat rock senior lauren mcnamara He won two individual matches. McNamara won the 100 fly in 55.68 and the 200 IM in 2:05.59. Her 200IM was her personal best. McNamara will head to Marshall next fall.
