CHARLOTTE — Dozens of people set out Saturday from the South End to Concord to support local small businesses.
Local hotspot owners like Derrick Grant look forward to this day every year. He runs his pop-up shop and needle and thread company, stocked with hundreds of vintage and repurposed clothing items ready to be sent to new homes this holiday.
“For small businesses, every dollar goes a long way, especially if you’re funding yourself, especially if you need to put yourself out there in the community to get exposure,” Grant said. .

Hundreds of local business owners like Mr. Grant appreciate the exposure and revenue the annual event brings. By hosting pop-up events in both South End and Concord, customers are now able to support multiple businesses in one location.
Pryor said the event brings great holiday cheer to his woodworking business each year.
“It’s really important to me and all the vendors here that they support us, not just today but throughout the year,” Pryor said.
Like many other small business owners, Grant appreciates those who shop small.
“Everyone who walks in here might repost, reshare or like us on social media, even if they don’t buy something. It’s important that every little piece is seen.” Grant said.
