As the end of November approaches, the Christmas schedule also brings festive events across the county. While everyone in Clinton is gearing up for the famous Christmas in the City event, there’s a lot happening elsewhere.
The town of Newton Grove is bringing back two major holiday events this year: the Circle of Lights and the Christmas Parade in the Grove.
The former will take place next Monday, November 27th, literally at the Circle in Newton Grove, with the festivities beginning at 6pm. The popular Christmas Parade is scheduled to take place that Saturday, Dec. 2, at 10 a.m.
Roseboro will be holding its annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony downtown this Tuesday, November 28th. The fun begins with a visit from Santa and his truck at Crave Foods at 5:30 p.m. Student entertainment begins that evening at 7 p.m., along with a tree lighting activity.
The annual Christmas Parade begins in downtown Roseboro on Friday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. Santa will be back that night at 5:30 p.m. Food trucks from Simply Delicious, Flash Barbecue and Yummy Hibachi will also be participating at that time.
The following morning, Dec. 9, the annual Clinton-Sampson Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade will march through downtown Clinton starting at 10 a.m.
Christmas will be held again in 2023 in the small town of Salemberg. Fun, food, games, lots of great vendors, and photos with Santa are just a few of the things planned for the community this year. The annual event will be held Saturday, Dec. 2, at Salemberg City Hall, 100 Methodist Drive.
The Garland community is celebrating the Christmas holidays by giving back to the community. Multiple toy drives will be held throughout the weekend of Dec. 15-17 through Garland entities. That Friday, December 15th, both the Community His Christmas Toy Drive and Santa’s Workshop Annual Toy Distribution begin.
Community Drive drop-off locations are located at Southern Bank, Piggly Wiggly, PacMan Barder Shop, and Union District Schools. Pick-up will be from December 20th to 21st, location to be determined. This activity will continue until December 17th. The event will be held at Southern Ambiance in Clinton starting at 7 p.m.
The last one will be Saturday, Dec. 16, titled “Plaincrazy Garland Toy Drive,” and will be held at Rotary Park in Garland.Reception hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
The annual Angel Tree Lightning event is also back in Autryville for the third year in a row. Santa will be making an appearance again this year, and young children will be able to write letters to him. This event will be held at City Hall on the second Friday of December, December 8th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
