From meet-and-greets with Santa and tree-lighting events to live reindeer visits and a model train showcase, this week’s edition of Go+Do is sure to have something to get even the Grinch in the holiday spirit.
Check out some of the 20 events happening around Greeley, Windsor, and northern Colorado the week of November 25th to December 1st.
Saturday, November 25th
1. Visit with Santa while supporting small businesses at Shop Small Saturday in downtown Windsor. Santa will be appearing at her Downtown Windsor Development Authority (412 Main Street) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Community members of all ages are encouraged to come along for free hot She’s chocolates and free family gifts while supplies last. 2. Old West Holidays will be held at 10 a.m. along 17th Street in historic downtown Cheyenne. The city is transformed into a Western winter wonderland with Santa, the Pony Express, photo ops, shopping and more. The free festival is open to all ages. 3. The Colorado Grit will play the Corpus Christi Ice Rays at the Greeley Ice House (900 8th Street) at 3:45 p.m. North American Hockey League teams provide the thrill of hockey with a local feel. 4. LaSalle Small Business Saturday begins at 10 a.m. at North Valley Middle School, 300 Second Avenue. A variety of local small businesses, crafters and artists will be displaying their wares for holiday shopping. Participation is free and anyone of any age can participate. 5. Makers Mercantile and Studio will host Make Your Own Pure Vanilla Extract at 10:30 a.m. at 824 Ninth St. in Greeley. Adults 21 and older will teach participants how to make their own pure vanilla extract. Tickets are $45 per person and include all supplies and instructions. 6. The Winter Market will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Loveland Pocket Park at Fourth and Lincoln Park in Loveland. 7. Kenny Faidler and the Cowboy Killers will perform at 8 p.m. at the Aggie Theater, 204 S. College Ave., Fort Collins. Phaedler combines western storytelling with gritty rock and roll for an energetic and engaging evening of entertainment. Sunday, November 26th
8. Get in the Christmas spirit by bringing the family to the Festival of Trees at the Union Colony Civic Center (701 10th Ave., Greeley) from 1 to 6 p.m. This annual event features festively decorated Christmas trees with different themes and characters. 9. The Rocky Mountain Train Show comes to town at 9 a.m. at the Ranch Event Complex, 5280 Arena Circle in Loveland. 10. Some of Santa’s precious reindeer will be in town for a meet and greet at Murdoch’s Lunch and Home Supply, 310 Eighth Street, from 3 to 6 p.m. People of all ages are invited to stop by the store and take photos with the festive event. 11. Wild Posey’s Fresh Wreath Workshop will be held at 4 p.m. at Loveland Ale Works, 118 W. Fourth St., Loveland. This workshop, hosted by Alex, owner of Wild Posies, will guide participants through the process of creating a festive holiday his wreath using a variety of fresh winter greens. This event is open to adults 21 years and older, and tickets include instructions, all supplies, and one drink from Aleworks. Tickets are $70 per person. Tuesday, November 28th
12. “The Art of Learning Through Building” begins online at 5pm with author and illustrator Kim Smith sharing her new book “Boxitects.” This book is the story of a young girl who uses her principals of STEAM to build something amazing. Wednesday, November 29th
13. Pickin’ on the Dead is at the Aggie Theater (204 S. College Ave., Fort Collins) at 8 p.m. The band will provide music fans with a unique night of entertainment, delivering all of Grateful’s popular Dead hits with a bluegrass twist. Thursday, November 30th
14. Join The Lyric for a screening of the film “Whip It” at 7 p.m., 1209 N. College Ave., Fort Collins. The film is the story of an indie rock-loving outsider who finds his place and power in roller derby. This film is rated PG-13 by him and may be viewed by children with parental supervision. 15. Learn the art of needle felting at 11 a.m. at Fort Collins’ Blue Moose Art Gallery (4032 S. College Ave., Suite A3). Instructor Judy Schelpeltz guides makers ages 11 and up through the process of needle felting birds such as cardinals, goldfinches, blue jays, and black tits. Friday, December 1st

17. Give a gift by registering for the Winter Candle Pouring at Makers Mercantile & Studio, 824 Ninth St. in Greeley, at 5:30 p.m. Open to adults 18 and older, this class teaches participants how to pour 10-ounce candles using fun holiday mugs. 18. Realities for Children Night Lights will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 531 S. College Ave., Fort Collins, at 6 p.m. The 26th annual event features the lighting of the iconic 50-foot Big Blue Nightlight Tree, which reflects and remembers abused, neglected, abandoned or at-risk children in the community is. 19. Santa will be at the Town of Windsor location at 412 Main Street from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. People of all ages are invited to visit with the man in red. Jerry Robinson performs at the Moxi Theater, 802 Ninth Street, Greeley, at 8 p.m. Robinson, a New York native, produces his own beats and music, drawing inspiration from Wyclef, J Cole, and Jay-Z.
