A standoff continues in the parking lot outside a Walmart in Palm Desert after a domestic violence incident.
The incident was first reported at 6:24 p.m.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office told News Channel 3 that deputies were called to the 34000 block of Monterey Avenue in Palm Desert for a report of domestic violence.
“The victim told dispatch that her boyfriend had physical contact with her and threatened to hurt her. The victim was able to enter the store to call 911, but the suspect remained in the parking lot. I was in a car that was stopped,” the email said. agency.
Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect, but he refused to exit the vehicle. Deputies are currently negotiating with the suspect at the scene.
Viewers inside Walmart said they were not allowed to leave due to the standoff.
