MINNEAPOLIS ā Thanksgiving is just days away, and as usual, many Minnesota retailers have decided to close to give their employees time to spend with their families. This year’s list includes major chains such as Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and Macy’s.
Some chain stores that have been open on Thanksgiving in past years, including Michael’s and Walgreens, have decided to close this year. Axios said most Walgreens stores will be closed, except for 24-hour stores. The drug chain says it faces retail theft, debt problems and competition, not to mention staffing issues.

According to MarketWatch, Chief Customer Officer Tracy Brown said, “We always hear from our team members, who are the face of Walgreens, that time off is a meaningful way to show them they care.” ā he said.
