COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The Columbus Walmart has a new look. To commemorate the store renewal, we have held a grand reopening.
This is the first update the store has made since 2000, and they hope it will bring an economic boom to the community.
“I’ve lived in Columbus for a long time, so I’m very familiar with Walmart. It’s like night and day compared to what it used to be,” said Colleen, a customer from Columbus.
Kathryn Bohler said this is exactly what Columbus needs for economic growth and development, especially for all the industries that are coming to town, such as aluminum plants and Tarver Tyler.
“We have an Air Force base here, we have a major university, the University of Mississippi for Women, and all kinds of emerging industries, so I thought, not only can we do better, we deserve better,” Bohler said. Told. “We’re going to see a lot of new jobs, and new jobs come with salaries, and more salaries, and people can spend money, and we think they can You will need a place not only to spend money, but also to find what you need for your “day to everyday life.
Store manager Kautina Shields said the store enhancements will help bring in more people from the community.
“What we’re trying to do is go back into the community and partner with different businesses to get the Walmart name back out there in a positive way,” Shields said.
Not only that, but surrounding rural towns in East Mississippi and West Alabama will also be coming to the city and spending more disposable income.
Black Friday is approaching, and there are hopes for an economic boost.
