This holiday season, the Arapahoe Library will host events at several locations throughout the district.
Community Relations Manager Holly Whelan said the event is free and open to all ages.
“Patrons can enjoy used book sales, musical performances, a New Year’s dance and more,” Mr Whelan said. “When the weather outside is terrible, you can also stay home and enjoy virtual events like book parties for adults, kids, and teens.”
The season kicks off with a used book sale of collectibles and professional books at the Koelbel Library, 5955 S. Holly St. in Centennial, on December 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and December 3 from noon to 4 p.m. Masu.
Whelan said the book sale will feature a visit from Santa and a performance by the Original Dickens Carolers on Dec. 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“This sale will feature a large selection of gift-quality books, holiday books, children’s books and more in prime condition,” Whelan said. “Come find holiday gifts and enjoy festive music.”
Community Engagement Manager Louise Ritchie encourages people to visit Kelbel Library Cafe for winter drink specials.
Whelan said book sales allow the Friends of Arapahoe Library to raise funds for events and services.
Another holiday event hosted by the library is the Very Vintage Holiday Show featuring Mr. Tim and the Denver Dolls, Whelan said.
The event will be held on Thursday, Dec. 21 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Embassy Suites DTC, 10250 E. Costilla Avenue in Centennial, for ages 10 and up.
“Mr. Tim and the Denver Dolls blend upbeat vocal harmonies and showmanship with your favorite holiday songs and a touch of comedy,” Whelan said. “Their performances will transport you back to the golden age of music and entertainment. Refreshments will be provided and there is also a cash bar on site. Holiday attire is recommended.”
In addition, each library will host Happy Noon Year on Sunday, Dec. 31 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Smoky Hills Library, 5430 S. Biscay Circle in Centennial.
“‘Happy Noon Year’ is a fun way for kids to ring in the New Year without having to stay up past their bedtime,” Whelan said. “Enjoy winter treats, an outdoor dance party, and a countdown to noon.”
In addition to the in-person events, Whelan said there will also be virtual events that people can attend.
