(RTTNews) – Mumbai, Maharashtra-based Kilic Healthcare India Ltd. is being sold through Walmart, Target and CVS due to potential safety concerns, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The company is recalling a variety of eye drops sold under multiple labels.
The recall began after government inspectors found unsanitary conditions.
The recall applies to all lots within the expiry date, which runs from November 2023 to September 2025.
The called back products were distributed nationwide through Velocity Pharma LLC, a wholesaler, retailer, and product distributor.
The affected lubricant and multisymptom eye drops were sold through a variety of retailers and labels, including Walmart, Rugby, Target, Rite Aid, Leader, Velocity, and CVS.
Patients using these affected products are at potential risk of eye infections or related harm. Because these products are intended to be sterile and the drugs applied to the eye bypass some of the body’s natural defenses, such eye drop products may pose an increased risk of harm. there is.
So far, the drug company has not received any reports of adverse events related to the recall.
The FDA is asking consumers to stop using the recalled eye drops and return them to the place of purchase.
In a similar recall, Cardinal Health Inc. earlier this month recalled certain Leader brand eye drops supplied by Velocity Pharma due to the potential risk of eye infections.
In March, Phoenix, Arizona-based PharmaMedica USA LLC recalled its 15% MSM eye drops Purely Soothing to the consumer level due to sterility.
In mid-September, the FDA warned eight companies, including CVS Health and Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc., from manufacturing or selling unapproved eye drug products in violation of federal law.
